Training camps are a great way to train hard, train with others and progress your own level of fitness and strength. Having the expertise of coaches on hand every day to give advice and training tips help to take your performance to the next level.
TTT run its annual camp each winter/spring escaping to warmer climates for a week’s dedicated training. Camps are open to all abilities as daily sessions are targeted accordingly and groups are formed depending on ability. Coaches take out each group ensuring that everyone gets the most out of the time away.
2018 Training Camp – SANDS BEACH RESORT, Lanzarote. Powered by Race Force
It was another great week out in Lanzarote this year, blue skies, sunshine and 25 degrees…we couldn’t have asked for better! If Carlsberg dig training camps then this would be it, great location, swimming pool right outside your hotel room, running trails on your doorstep and climb upon climb for out on the bike!
With around 40 athletes on camp it was a great mix of ability and personalities with the ladies holding up a strong proportion of the contingent! Was great to see a few pros whilst we were there too equally making the most of the canary sun and warmth for training and escaping the British cold. A Q&A with Will Clarke after dinner was great to find out how the pros really train during the winter and what his secrets are!
This year we teamed up with Race Force, the UK’s leading triathlon travel service and it showed! It meant for a floorless camp with every details organised well in advance. We look forward to working with them again next year.
Well nobody wanted to return at the end of the week after banking so serious miles on bike and on foot and swimming in one of the best pools we have seen.
We are already planning and talking about next year’s camp! Watch this space and we’ll get dates and details up here as soon as we have them.
2017 Training Camp – SANDS BEACH RESORT, Lanzarote
An awesome week was had by all of our athlettes in Lanzarote in April. A great escape from the British winter after months of hard training in the cold and dark. Great facilities at a great hotel with fantastic cycling and some great trail running in the area.
It was the perfect way to get some long hard miles in on the bike is great preparation for the upcoming 70.3 and Ironman season ahead.
We can’t wait for next year already!
2016 Training Weekend – SNOWDONIA, North Wales
A fun and sunny weekend was had by all in the stunning Snowdonia mountain range. A 2 night stay in a lovely hostel, some challenging and teeth gritting hills, not to mention the 60 mile ride just to get there!! It was a fantastic and sociable weekend of hard and long training including swimming in the stunning Nant Gwynant lake, riding the breath taking roads around the area and also running through some fantastic woodland trails.
The weekend was perfect training for those heading into the European and UK Ironman and Ironman 70.3 season.
2016 Training Camp – Playitas Resort, Fuerteventura
A great week was had by all in February in the warm Canarian sunshine of Las Playitas, Fuerteventura…..24 degrees and blue skies! Just what we all needed after the wet and miserable British winter we have all had!
Total Tri Training teamed up with Oxygen Addict for the week taking away 25 athletes and 8 coaches. Some serious miles were put in on the bike with a few of the athletes clocking up a 200km ride in 1 day!
The week consisted of great training, great people, a great hotel and fantastic facilities. It was great to get away for some warm weather training in the sun… we’re already thinking about where to take the camp next year!!
2015 Training Camp – Puerto Pollensa, Mallorca
Last year’s training camp went to Puerto Pollensa, Mallorca in April. It was great to get some long miles, spring mallorcan sun and some big climbs under the belt. Total Tri Training teamed up with Chester Tri Club taking 50 athletes with us along with 7 coaches. It was fantastic to have a 25 metre laned pool at the hotel, easy to just fall out of bed in the morning into the pool! The beach was only a 2 minute walk away for some open water swimming and there was great running to be had in every direction with two of our athletes exploring part of the island by foot completing a 30 mile run one morning! With some athletes riding in excess of 500 miles during the week it meant that they got to ride all of the iconic climbs such as Sa Calobra and Puig Major.
2014 Training Camps – Marbella and Banyoles
2014 training camps went to Marbella and to Banyoles (nr. Girona), Spain in February and March. It was fantastic to get some great swimming, running and a lot of cycling done in stunning mountain settings….definitely made for some good challenging bike riding! The athletes that came found it really brought them on heading in to the race season and loved the group element getting to train with others and enjoy a great holiday at the same time. Training camps are generally held towards the start of the year as they are a well needed break from training in our cold and damp climate as well as great pre race season preparation.
