Training Weekend 2016 – Snowdonia, North Wales

Join us on a fantastic weekend, jam packed with Swim, Bike and Run set in the heart of Snowdonia, North Wales. The weekend have been carefully selected to coincide with the European and UK Ironman and Ironman 70.3 season positioned 3 weeks out from IMUK 70.3 Wimbleball and 6 weeks out from IMUK in Bolton.  The main benefit to you as an athlete is to gain from the training dynamic within a group environment such as this – we always find that you will really get that last few percent out of yourself on a training camp!!

The idea is simple; quality, cost effective training camps aimed at all abilities located close to home in the UK, so no need for lots of travel expense or time away from the family. No need for more than a Friday afternoon off work and back home for Sunday evening with the chance to clock up close to 300km on the bike as well as swim and run sessions. The whole group will be split into different abilities on the bike so that everyone gets great training and there will be plenty of coaching staff on hand to assist you over the weekend. Our staff include Top Age-groupers, Kona Finishers, European Champions and Overall AG winners of Ironman branded races so you will learn from those who have really been there!


The cost of the camp including all accommodation £129 (details below) . This includes all coaching, transport and accommodation on a half-board basis. Availability is on a first come first served basis as there are limited numbers due to accommodation.


Accommodation at YHA Bryn Gwnynant. Breakfasts and 3 course evening meals included on Half Board Basis. It is dormitory style accommodation with rooms of 7, 8 or 9 people sharing. The rooms are for sole use of athletes on our camp however.

Bryn Gwynant is surrounded by the mountain of Snowdonia with fantastic roads for cycling, trails for running and beautiful lakes to swim in.

What is included on the camp?

  • Fully Coached/Guided Bike sessions – focus on bike skills such as descending, group riding etc. All routes pre-planned for all abilities
  • Coached run sessions catering for all abilities over several groups
  • Open water technique session – focus on sighting and open water specific technique. Weather dependent and wetsuit required
  • Evening Coaching Talk from one of our coaching staff on relevant topics
  • Transport of kit and overnight luggage too and from the meeting point in Chester


Depart from Chester area (TBC) at 2pm for 55-60 mile hilly ride through some great scenery in to the heart of Snowdonia. A great ride for those who have not done it before! Approx. 3.5-4 hours

Arrive for Dinner and relax before a big day Saturday


Early morning swim session in the crystal clear waters of Nant Gwynant – approx. 1 hour session. Different session for different open water abilities

Mid-morning depart for long Ironman/Ironman 70.3 specific training ride approx. 100 miles+, heading out of Snowdonia to the coast to spend more time in the aero bars for those who use them. Lunch will be a stop during the latter part of this ride before a short ride home and a run off the bike

Return ride to Chester via alternative route approx. 60 miles
